Track description:
The track “Knowledge Management and eCommerce” focuses on advanced concepts and methods that are essential for information engineering in eCommerce systems and applications. The initial course on “Information and Knowledge Management” provides an understanding of the role of knowledge management (KM) in enterprises and introduces concepts for modeling, representing, and managing information and knowledge. This is followed by a course on various “IT Aspects of eCommerce”, providing an overview of information and communication systems, tools, and services that are essential enablers of electronic commerce applications. An essential aspect of networked eCommerce systems is their high degree of complexity which has to be managed in order to provide dependable functionality. Therefore, the course on “Complexity Management“ introduces a framework of interdisciplinary knowledge, methods, and skills to support an understanding of complex systems, to analyze and evaluate complex situations, and to understand what has to be done to manage and master complexity. Finally, a key requirement of information engineering for eCommerce applications is the adequate pricing of information products and services. The course on “Information Pricing” will address this topic and help to understand what pricing options are available and how pricing can be implemented for information goods.
