Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
The Universität Karlsruhe (TH) and Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe GmbH have founded in 2008 the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Both partners signed a memorandum of understanding on close cooperation under the roof of KIT. KIT turned out to be the decisive ace of the Universität Karlsruhe in the excellence initiative, in the course of which it was elected one of three elite universities in Germany.
Both partners are joining their forces in KIT in order to achieve an unprecedented quality of cooperation. With roundabout 8000 employees and an annual budget of more than half a billion Euros, KIT has the potential of becoming a leading institution in selected science disciplines in the world.
