Program Director


Prof. Dr. Andreas Oberweis

Appointed in 2003 Prof. Oberweis` research focuses on all questions related to the problem of efficiently and effectively supporting distributed processes by innovative information and communication technology. He is (co-) author of more than 90 papers in international journals, proceedings and monographs as well as author and (co-) editor of 13 books in the field of applied informatics. Prof. Oberweis serves on the Editorial Board of several international scientific journals. In the German Informatics Society (GI) he is chairman of the Division on Information Systems and Chairman of the Special Interest Group on Methods for the Development of Information Systems (EMISA). He is co-founder of the Virtual Global University (VGU) in Frankfurt/Oder and of several IT-Companies. He is also member of the board of directors of EUCIP Ltd. Swindon/UK which develops and introduces a European wide certification scheme for informatics professionals. As Vice Department Director at the Forschungszentrum Informatik (FZI) Karlsruhe he is putting software engineering research results into methods and tools for practical application.
